This past Saturday I had the opportunity to attend the Richmond Forum and hear Quincy Jones speak. It was truly amazing to hear his stories and people he has promoted through his extensive career.
When he started talking about the engineering part of his career, he talked about when to “make the call”. He told the mediator (Tim Reid) that during the recording sessions, you can have many different types of personalities to deal with and someone needs to step up and be the leader.
Being so involved with education and particularly educational leadership, I found it very interesting to hear someone discuss leadership from the music industry point of view. I know the challenges that I have working with individuals; I can only imagine working with individuals in the entertainment industry.
