Over the past few weeks I have been working diligently on my Personal Leadership Platform.  At first, this was a very difficult concept for me.  I felt like I was saying the same thing over and over.  What I realized is that this is not a bad thing.  through answering the 10 questions, I researched many different styles.  Servant leadership spoke to me.  Everything about the concept rang true.  The knowledge I have gained through the MBTI and LCI supports that this leadership type would appeal to me.  I enjoy working with others and being part of a team.  I see my strengths as best suited for this style.

An article by Carolyn Crippen synthesized 11 characteristics of a servant leader.  Each was powerful to me.  If anyone else wanted to know about servant leadership, I thought I would give you the 11 characteristics and you could examine closer if anything rang true to your leadership style.  The eleven elements are: listening, empathy, healing, awareness, persuasion, conceptualization, foresight, stewardship, commitment to the growth of others, building community, and calling.  Through the reading of Crippen and others I have seen common threads with Servant leadership to that of the book The Five Dysfunctions of a Team. What is viewed as critical building blocks of an organizations success by Lencioni is valued in this style.

If anyone else has any other information about Servant Leadership I would love to hear your thoughts.
