Penn State Fiasco

I feel the new Penn State president’s statement, “Penn State will not only do what is required under the law: we do what is right.” was the university’s approach to begin the process of rebuilding the trust and improving the tarnished image of the educational institution. He was acknowledging that the university has both an ethical and moral obligation to ensure safety for all aspects of the students’ school life. The university will need to implement a better communication and reporting system that includes checks and balances at each level of reported occurence.
This scandal adds another sad chapter to the deteriorating number of sports figures and coaches that are no longer providing today’s youth as positive role models. One may ask, At whose sacrifice does winning become the prize?
