The interim president of Penn State stated in the future Penn State would “not only do what is required under the law, we will do what is right”. He is implying that Penn State did not follow the law in the past. As a result, the school will up hold the law in the future. The university has been tainted by this scandal and reputation diminished; therefore, they would take the necessary steps to make sure a situation like this would not happen in the future.
The Penn State scandal has brought about scrutiny in reporting sexual misconduct with a minor. The allegation against former Coach Sandusky has rocked the prominent university to the core. In addition, to the firing of the president, athletic director, vice president, and the legendary coach Joe Paterno. There seems to be difficulty in accessing the blame on who should have reported the sexual misconduct to the police. For example, Coach Paterno thought he was following procedure by reporting the misconduct to the athletic director. Anyone with knowledge of sexual misconduct has the obligation of reporting the acquisitions to the proper authority even if they need to go above their superiors.
