During the winter break, I had time to reflect upon courses taken, thus far, and my leadership style and practices. I definitely utilize the Human Resource frame, and I contribute this to part of my being successful. I do believe that the students, faculty/staff, and parents feel cared about and comfortable relating to me as their principal.
I even had the opportunity to again review the book, Strengths Finder, by Tom Rath that the administrators in my division read as a book study a couple of years ago. There was an inventory that we completed that identified our strengths as well. There were five themes/talents in which I scored high. Discipline was the first, which is structured, ordered, and planned. This talent is the same as the strength under MBTI Judging and LCI Sequencing. Responsibility was the second, which means commit to, emotionally bound to follow through to completion. The third was Harmony which means look for areas of agreement, common ground. The fourth is Belief which means values, high ethics affects behavior, success is more than money and prestige. Last but not least, Connectedness which means things happen for a reason, we are all part of a larger picture.
