I never felt that I was a strong “scholarly” writer as most of my writing was email, parent letters or memo type format. During the first session, we were asked to think about what we wanted to get from the class. I realized that I would not move to the scholarly level in one course, but I wanted to move past the overall anxiety of writing.
The structure was exactly what I needed. The time we had to write in class and edit with peers proved to be very helpful and productive. Additionally, the tips and framework guidelines proved to be valuable as well. The framework allowed me to stay focused which intern relieved some of the anxiety. It also maintained the needed structure of the paper.
During the last session we took a moment to reflect about our time in the class and where we are now. I feel I am a “work in progress” regarding the level that I want to be for scholarly writing, but I have definitely am in the right direction.
