Saturday’s Writing Class 11/12/11

Saturday’s writing class was very eventful. First, Dr. Ross gave us feedback on our position papers. I used these suggestions to make some last minute adjustments to my oral presentation. The oral presentations were excellent. Everyone had their own perspective about the topic they had chosen to write about in the position paper. The oral presentations really made me want to read each person’s entire paper. Once again, the peer editing went very well. A lot of ideas and suggestions were exchanged across the cohorts.
Finally, I feel like I am not only developing as a writer, but I am also being able to intertwine the key ideas from our courses into my writing. I am making mistakes along the way, but Dr. Sokol has told me, “You are not wrong, you are learning.” I no longer have “quotation avoidance”, and the APA manual has become user friendly. Most of all I am proud to be a team member of the Longwood Cohort. Whenever I have a questions or need clarification on an assignment, I have received an overwhelming amount of help and encouragement. Instead of feeling like I am being a hindrance to them, they express to me that it helps them to understand the assignments further by explaining it to me. Would you call that teamwork at its best? I certainly do.
