I have noticed a change in my writing after being in the EDLP 715 class. I am able to focus more on my topic by referring back to the organizational tools. The most recent one, the GPS for Persuasive Writing, really helped me to organize my thoughts. I haven’t written a persuasive paper in about 10 years, so I was very rusty. As I reflected on the last two assignments and assignment 3, I feel that I am still struggling with two writing items. First, is knowing where and when to provide support for certain concepts that I present in my papers. There are several things that I feel are common knowledge to anyone in the educational field; therefore, I tend to not cite them. Second, is creating a very engaging summary or conclusion for the paper. I need to concentrate on pulling together everything and on finding the right statements to close the paper. I have decided to try one strategy, which is to review the final paragraphs of articles and chapters in books. Hopefully, this will give me some ideas on how to create a better ending for my papers.
