It has been several years since I have had to write a scholarly paper. It was comforting to hear that others are in the same boat. When the summer class started, I was very anxious about writing my first paper. It was helpful to reflect about who I was as a leader, but I really wanted to test the waters with a research-based paper. I wanted some early feedback on my writing ability, so that I could work on my weaknesses before the fall classes. I was a little disappointed with not having the opportunity to do this. However, I do see the benefits of moving slowly through the process. My confidence level in terms of writing has risen since this summer. It was also nice to know that there will be opportunities for peer reviews of my writing. Looking back, I am glad that we are starting the more in-depth writing in EDU 715. I am hoping to develop my skills as an “insightful” writer over the next few months.
