Writing Class

On Saturday, I participated in our first writing class. I had some apprehension going into the class, but left feeling better about the situation. I often wonder how high quality writing should look. Having a rubric and a feedback sheet helped me to better understand the requirements .  Writing is a tricky business. I want my writing to be professional, but not to the point that the reader instantly goes to sleep.  I think good writing is organized, follows a predictable pattern, uses good grammar, and contains relevant examples.  When I write, I like for the ideas presented to make sense and have a good flow from beginning to end. Having worked in an elementary environment for a number of years, I was happy to see the graphic organizer for writing.  It was great to see what we consider a “best practice” for younger students to be used on the graduate level. Since I tend to think visually about most things, an organizer works well for me.
