Hearty congratulations are in order for our very own John Hendron.
Last week, John was awarded the Making IT Happen award at the 27th annual Virginia Society for Technology in Education conference held in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Dr. Peter Gretz, the acting Superintendent in Goochland County, wrote a great blog post about John winning the award. Rather than repeating what Dr. Gretz wrote, I encourage you to read that post.
I’ll add a little fun to the story, and, perhaps, some embarrassment to John. I took the photo below, which isn’t great quality. But, you’ll see John wearing his well-earned black leather jacket and sunglasses. He’s being fetted by some VSTE luminaries, including a giant M&M (it’s a VSTE “tradition;” don’t ask…). The picture was taken very shortly before John danced “Gangnam Style” with a handful of giant M&Ms (again, don’t ask…). I only wish I’d captured video of that.
Fortunately, VSTE did capture some video of John doing what he does best, which is to educate the educational technology community about the good work that he and his colleagues in Goochland are doing. This is one video from the Ignite!-style presentation session held at VSTE. I encourage you to watch John present Ignite! style and to also watch the other Ignite! presentations from VSTE.
Congratulations, John. This was a much deserved honor!

Thank you, Dr. Becker!
I for one, am not unhappy that you did not think of video-recording the dancing. I have many talents, but dancing has never been one of them. Thanks to my VSTE colleagues for dancing with me, however, in their M&M costumes.
