Scholarly Writing

After getting responses back from Dr. Church on our first collaborative paper, I was excited for my group not to have any comma problems.  We had a few word choice issues, but we were excited with our results.  After working with this collaborative group, I am beginning to practice many of the writing tips that have been presented without really thinking about it.  A former P.E. student teacher wrote a fitness grant for my PTA a few days ago, and he sent it to me to read over.  I immediately began editing this document without really thinking about what I was doing.  There were several “theys” that did not have  close reference to whom they was referring to.  Also, I began looking for alternate word choices and taking commas away.  I’ve never really thought of myself as an editor, but thanks to this class it is becoming second nature.
