I admire Erin Gruwell – “Freedom Writers.” She was a teacher who advocated for a group of intercity high school students who had been given up on. She changed their lives forever. Erin fostered an educational philosophy that valued and promoted diversity, communication, and tolerance. She transformed her students lives by reaching out and showing them she cared and that she was not going to give up on them.
