During the week following Easter I visited my wife’s family in Tennessee. While visiting I had some interesting conversations with my brother-in-law regarding leadership; he works in University of Memphis’s Student Leadership and Involvement department (see the website here: http://www.memphis.edu/student_leadership/). In his job Jon, my brother-in-law, works to encourage college students to become leaders and to teach them leadership skills that are designed to help them lead campus organizations as well as in their occupations and personal lives after graduation. Jon was even familiar with my classmates’ favorite authors Boman and Deal.
Until the past week I knew my brother-in-law worked at the University of Memphis, but I wasn’t sure what exactly he did and how it related to leadership. Now I look forward to using Jon as a resource through my next two years in the Ed.D. program as well as during my career as a leader.
