The Megaloudis “Make it Happen” 5K Run was a huge success on Saturday.  Great weather was bestowed upon us and a lot of people came out to join us as we raised money for the Megaloudis Foundation.  The Megaloudis Foundation was created in memory of a soccer player, Nicole,  who was killed in a traffic accident while a sophomore at VCU.  Money raised by the Foundation is awarded to college bound kids who demonstrate leadership skills and abilities within their communities.  It is a perfect fit for my students to to show off their own leadership skills and abilities as they handle all the logistics behind managing a race, to include working with community business to donate cash or gift-in-kind items for the race.  I do not have the final tally on how much money was raised but all indications from race registrations and raffle tickets sold tell us that we once again made a positive impact towards the foundation.  Once again, sport is used to improve people’s lives!!

Well done on the final community event of the semester by the Center for Sport Leadership at VCU!!
