Decision making has always been a part of my job as an administrator. After completing our class Frameworks for Decision-making: Legal Perspectives, I am more aware of how policy should drive our decisions.
Recently a student transferred to our division. We questioned how we should follow through with the specific dilemma during the enrollment. My 1st response was to research policy to see what was mandated by law. In this instance, we were unable, to find a policy to apply. Now, we had an ethical decision to make.
Our decision was to do what we thought was in the best of the student.
