Dollar General Provides Literacy Grant Programs

Andrea Bumbrey

In this economy, schools are cutting their budgets due to funding. Regardless of the funding our children still need to continue to recieve a quality education. It is always exciting to find other resources to supplement our current school funding.

Dollar General is company who has a commitment to literacy and it is an integral part of the company’s culture.” One of the c0-founders was functionally illiterate when he started the company.”

“Dollar General believes learning to read, receiving your GED or learning the English language is an investment that opens doorways for personal, professional and economic growth. That is why our commitment to literacy remains strong. It is the one gift that no one can take away—the one gift that lasts a lifetime.”

On the website below you will be able to see literacy grants offered by Dollar General. In addition to  literacy grants, they have a National Literacy Directory. The directory allows you to choose areas where you may need assistance.  The areas include math, reading, technology. You are able to choose a city and state to see if assistance is offered in your area.  I was surprised to see one of our local community colleges listed on the directory. Check out this website!
