The Writing Process

Having spent the last couple of weeks reflecting on the first session of the 715 course, and watching as my colleagues posted their personal comments via the Internet, I have found myself in agreement with many.  I, too, am glad to find the instructors offering guidance, early on, in the area of scholarly writing.  At the K-12 building level, this type of writing is not a part of the daily routine.  Thus, revisiting the guidelines, at this point in the program, will provide essential building blocks which will prove most useful as we move forward.   I believe through the process we will find the lessons on writing for different “audiences” most beneficial, no matter our job title.  Furthermore, I have pondered, on more than one occasion, if my perception of “peer reviews” might not be clouded by the idea of editing and proofreading for others.  It is not uncommon to find myself offering those services to colleagues and, of course, students.  This has led me to think I may need to “reframe” my own perspective, as it relates to peer reviews.  In the end, however, I know it will be a beneficial part of the process and, as many of my classmates have previously stated, I look forward to receiving the feedback.
