me, in a word

brianmaltby

I have spent a good deal of time reading this summer. I am currently working on Unmistakable Impact by Jim Knight and The Speed of Trust by Stephen Covey. I have challenged myself to summarize my leadership style in one word. At first I thought maybe trust or credibility, though the word I continually come back to is relationships. I think this is what I find absolutely imperative to quality leadership.  I put a great deal of emphasis on the relationships the teachers place with the students and feel that this is often reflected by the discipline in the classroom. I attempt to convey this in all of my dealings with everyone I interact with on a daily basis. I am fortunate that many of my co-workers feel similarly.
What one word summarizes you? What do you find most important?

fall payment info

brianmaltby

I just spoke to VCU about our fall bill. They tell me a new link will be posted on the website August 1st that will allow us to pay tuition in 4 payments instead of all at once. There is a $25 service fee. I was told to wait until then to pay. My bank account and I are happy to not have to pay $2200 next week.

reflections of 1st semester

brianmaltby

Good morning everyone.
I appreciate having had the opportunity to meet you all this semester and look forward to working with you all as we move on in the program. It’s fascinating to take the time to analyze how we think and learn and to see it purposefully displayed for us. We all have very clear comforts and tendencies. This past semester has given me a lot to think about when assembling future teams. I think I will be mindful of this class as I hope to create successful, cooperative partnerships.
Admittedly, I have already started pairing people up in my head as being good to work with on the capstone. I hope to be part of a well balanced team that is really able to take advantage of each others strengths. I am already curious to see how are teams are assembled. We’ll see…
Enjoy your break. See you in September!

Me (according to the tests)

brianmaltby

Test results so far:

LCI: Sequential Processiong – 25, Precise- 32,Technical Reasoning – 20, Confluent- 27                     I seem to not really be avoiding anything. I’m somewhat comfortable/adaptable to whatever skill set a task requires.

Myers-Briggs:  E-35, N-51, T-23, P-53    Only one of our group. I appear to have very clear preferences. This test feels accurate. I would like to think of my self as rational, creative and curious and would agree that I need to work on details and make sure I have a plan before plunging in to activities.

Chinese Five Elements : Wood- 11, Fire -10, Earth – 9, Metal – 10, Water – 7
These results feel similar to the LCI. Mostly balanced.

I’m very curious/excited to see what the teams look like once we begin working on the captstone projects. I hope we are able to balance them with everyone’s unique strengths.

Any thoughts what this means….

Hello all.

I found a chinese elements theory test online: http://www.longevity-center.com/five_element.html
